SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER
Edmonton, Alberta | Full-Time
Hospitality | Restaurants | Hotels | Workplace

Create spaces with character. Bring bold ideas to life.

DMC Recruitment Group is partnering with an established interior design studio to recruit a Senior Interior Designer for its Edmonton team.

With a portfolio spanning distinctive dining destinations, welcoming hotel environments, contemporary workplaces, and thoughtfully designed medical spaces, our client brings together creative vision and practical execution. Their work considers how a space looks, feels, and functions—and how it expresses each client’s identity.

This is an opportunity for a designer who enjoys taking ownership, building client relationships, and translating ambitious concepts into beautifully resolved interiors. You’ll guide projects from early ideas through construction, contribute to the studio’s creative direction, and support the development of emerging designers.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As Senior Interior Designer, you’ll combine strong conceptual thinking with the technical expertise needed to deliver successful projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the design journey: Develop concepts, space plans, material palettes, and detailed design solutions that connect the client’s vision with the needs of the people using the space.
  • Shape memorable experiences: Create interiors that balance atmosphere, brand identity, operational flow, comfort, and durability.
  • Deliver with precision: Prepare and review drawings, specifications, finish schedules, and furniture selections, maintaining design intent through documentation and construction.
  • Build trusted relationships: Lead client presentations, communicate recommendations clearly, and guide decisions throughout the project.
  • Coordinate project delivery: Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other project partners to resolve details and support timelines and budgets.
  • Elevate the team: Mentor junior designers, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to a collaborative studio environment.
  • Design responsibly: Integrate building code requirements, accessibility, and sustainable design considerations into practical, thoughtful solutions.

WHAT YOU BRING

You’re a confident, collaborative designer with a discerning eye and the ability to move comfortably between creative exploration and technical delivery.

  • 5+ years of professional interior design experience, with demonstrated ownership of projects; hospitality, restaurant, hotel, workplace, or medical interiors experience is particularly relevant.
  • A degree in Interior Design or a related discipline; NCIDQ certification or progress toward certification is an asset.
  • A compelling portfolio demonstrating conceptual strength, thoughtful material selection, and well-executed interiors.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, supported by strong presentation and design communication skills.
  • Experience producing coordinated construction documentation and navigating building codes and accessibility requirements.
  • Confidence leading client conversations, presenting ideas, and managing multiple project priorities.
  • A hands-on approach to problem-solving and a willingness to share knowledge with the team.

WHY JOIN OUR CLIENT?

  • Creative ownership: Help shape projects from the first conversation through to the finished space.
  • A varied portfolio: Apply your skills across hospitality and commercial environments with distinct identities and design challenges.
  • Room to grow: Build your leadership capabilities while mentoring others and contributing to the studio’s continued development.
  • Collaborative delivery: Work alongside designers and project partners who bring different perspectives and expertise.
  • Competitive compensation: A salary and comprehensive benefits package aligned with your experience.
